1. JURISDICTION:

The series will be run under MNZ Permits. All competitors must be the holders of a current MNZ Competition licence. Competitors from other countries are eligible to enter subject to MNZ receiving start permission along with insurance to the FIM standards. This championship will be held in accordance with MNZ Manual of Motorcycle Sport along with any supplements, and these Supplementary Regulations.

 

Juniors from the age of 15 years can compete in this Championship as per rule 16-9.

 

2. CLASSES:

Championship:

MX 1

251cc - Open 2 Stroke & 251cc - Open 4 Stroke

MX 2

250cc 4 Stroke & 126 – 250cc 2 Stroke

125cc 2 Stroke

125cc 2 Stroke

Under 21 – to be incorporated with 125cc 2 Stroke

MX 3

Capacities as above – this class is designed for those who do not qualify for the above-mentioned classes, or a rider who does not wish to compete in a NZ Championship class.

 

Once a rider has entered one class of the Championship & competed in one round in that particular class, s/he must make application to the Motocross Commission before entering another class.

 

3. ENTRY FEE:

Entry Fee per round – all classes $120.00 per class; MX 3 - $70.00

Rule 5-5-2 applies. Should you withdraw your entry a 10% administration fee will be deducted from the entry fee paid.

 

4. ENTRIES:

Entry closing dates:

Round 1 – 02nd February 2012

Round 2 – 16th February 2012

Round 3 – 23rd February 2012

Round 4 – 08th March 2012

 

Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organiser, an additional $100 will be added to the entry fee as the late fee.

 

Each competitor will be sent confirmation by email where possible, along with any final instruction sheets.

 

Riders will be allocated 3 gate passes (wrist bands) when they arrive at the gate of each round. One for the rider & two for mechanic/support crew. Any additional people attending must purchase wrist bands at the gate of each event.

 

Wrist bands are only valid for the main gate until riders briefing.

 

5. QUALIFYING & PRACTICE:

Practise & Qualifying will be run together.

Three laps practise then once the first rider finishes their 3rd lap, green flag will come out to begin qualifying session. 30 minutes total.

 

To qualify for the National Championship classes, riders must achieve a minimum lap time of 115% of that of the average lap time from riders placed 2nd to 12th. The number of gates will be determined by the MX Commission in consultation with the Clerk of the Course and shall be announced at riders briefing.

 

Those riders not qualifying will move to the MX 3 class, provided their best lap time is within the top 40 of that class. Should you not make the top 40 in the MX 3 there will be no further racing for you (no refund will be provided).

 

The Steward in consultation with the Clerk of the Course and the MX Commissioner reserves the right to classify riders into a championship class if in their opinion circumstances on the day have affected the riders qualifying performance.

 

The time qualifying and percentage calculation is based on international standards and will be derived from the electronic timed lap scoring system.

 

6. GATE POSITIONS:

All Classes

Gate selection for riders will be by qualifying times. The qualifying position will be held for all races. If you qualify 10th you have 10th choice for the start of all races.

 

False Start – Any rider who jumps the start will be penalised with a 30 second time penalty, implemented by the Steward of the meeting.

 

7. RACE DURATION:

MX 1 & MX 2 & 125cc 2 Stroke

Three 20 Minute + 2 Lap Races

MX 3

Three 12 Minute + 1 Lap Races

 

 

8. WAITING ZONE PROCEDURE:

10 Minutes before the start of the race, all motorcycles must be in the waiting zone. Penalty of this regulation may result in disqualification from the race in question.



9. PIT AREA

No race bikes are to be ridden in the pit area; bikes are to be pushed to the waiting zone area; prior to the race commencing. At the completion of the race, bikes are to be pushed back to your pit area from a designated stop area.

 

10. PIT BOARDS

Pit Board and Mechanics Areas; any entrant or crew member must have there wrist band/ gate passes on to be in these areas.

 

11. TECHINCAL INSPECTIONS:

As per rule 10-1 random checking may take place before or after the event. Rule 5-6-2 applies.

 

13. FUEL TESTING

Approved fuel must be used. Testing may take place at anytime throughout the series.

 

13. NOISE TESTING

Compulsory noise testing will take place at sign-on. Your bike must not exceed the standard of 96dBA.

 

14. DRUG TESTING:

All participants are advised that MNZ recognizes the Drug Free Sport NZ, its agents, any anti-doping authority contracted by DFSNZ, and international sports organizations, as agencies responsible for conducting doping control on its members for testing in and out of competition, whether in New Zealand or overseas, including requesting, collecting and analyzing samples to detect the possible use of doping substances or methods. Should you have any doubts over banned substances it is recommended competitors phone the DFSNZ hotline 0800 378 437.

 

15. POINTS & LAP SCORING:

Points will be awarded from 1st to 20th place, as follows – 25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13,12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Electronic timing system will be used, each rider will be allocated their transponder at sign on.

Transponders & brackets become the responsibility of the competitor when collected at sign on – until such time they are returned at the end of racing. The cost ($650) for any lost or damaged transponders & brackets will be charged to the competitor.

 

16. BIKE & BACK NUMBERS:

Correct racing numbers as issued by MNZ are to be worn on the back of body armour or jersey and on bikes as per rule 10-2-2. Correct number board colours to be used as per rule 10-3-3.

 

17. RACE NUMBERS:

All riders that race in the Championship class will earn a number status within MNZ. This means that if we have 85 different 125cc riders over the championship they are allocated 1st to 85th in New Zealand. The top riders will be automatically graded by the points they score as per rule 6-15-1. For all non point scoring riders they will be allocated fractional points to ascertain your correct racing number.

 

You will automatically be allocated your Championship number at the beginning of the new MNZ Licence season.

If you do not want that number you must notify the MNZ Office.

 

18. PRIZEMONEY:

Prizemoney will be paid for the 125cc 2 Stroke,

MX 1 & MX 2 classes.

 

 

Prizemoney scale per round:

1st - $220; 2nd - $180; 3rd - $150; 4th - $130; 5th - $100

 

Prizemoney scale for series winners:

1st        $800                 6th        $120

2nd       $600                 7th        $120

3rd       $300                 8th        $120

4th        $200                 9th        $120

5th        $160                 10th      $120

 

To be eligible for series Prizemoney you must compete in at least three of the four rounds of the Championship.

 

Clubs may have additional Prizemoney and/or Prizes for their round or contribute to the series Prizemoney.

 

19. PRESENTATIONS:

1st to 3rd places in the overall championship classes will receive trophies at the final round. A prize giving and podium presentation will be held at the conclusion of each round for all classes – top 3 per class.

 

MX 3:

There will be accumulated points for this class, the top 3 riders will be recognised by series trophies.

 

20. RESULTS & SERIES POINTS:

Results & series points will be collated. Results of each round and series points will be posted at www.mnz.co.nz within 24 hours of the event taking place.

 

21. SIGN ON

Will take place at each round from 7.00am – 7.30am on the Sunday. You may be able to sign on Saturday – you will be notified of this with your acceptance.

Licence, Log Book & proof of Club Membership must be presented.

 

22. RIDERS BRIEFING:

All competitors must attend riders briefing as per rule 6-4.

 

23. STARTS:

Starts will be a clutch start behind backward falling gates.

False Starts:

 

24. CANCELLATIONS:

Each organiser reserves the right to cancel the meeting at any stage, in conjunction with the Clerk of the Course, Steward & Riders Representative should conditions warrant.

 

For reasons of "Force Majeure" should a meeting or part of a meeting be cancelled, entry refunds will not be made. Classes may be shortened at the organizers discretion

 

25. PUBLICITY & PROMOTION:

Competitors must make themselves available, if required for the purposes of publicity & promotion.

 

26. GENERAL NOTES

All clubs will have designated crossing areas for tracks. This is to ensure spectators do not cross the tracks whilst racing is on. It is imperative that your support personnel use these crossings.

 

27. Advertising/Promotional Activities

By arrangement with or through organisers only this includes entrants, riders & team managers. Note; indiscriminate & unauthorised advertising cannot be permitted as it causes problems with the official sponsors advertisers without whose support these events could not proceed.
